First of all,
Wikipedia says that the fair is officially called the "San Diego County Fair" but I'm still going to call it the Del Mar Fair. Does that make me a real local? In elementary school, I remember submitting a piece of cactus art to the fair, but I haven't gone too many times since then. Usually I forget that the fair's in town and by then, the $5 ticket day has passed and I never want to spend $15 on it. Thankfully, about a month ago, I watched an episode of the Office where Dwight bribed/rewarded people with corndogs, so that reminded me that the fair was coming.
So yes, we decided to go to the fair this weekend for the llamas! I took a lot of photos of weird pigeons that did strange aggressive chest-puffing dances, and watched an intense bird judging session from a master breeder. I learned that there are a lot of interesting societies that you can get involved in (wood working, chair making, weaving, etc). Lastly, I was amused to see slices of award winning cakes behind a glass window on display. Why didn't I get the memo to enter a baked good?! Must prepare for next year! If I remember...
