CCF Cook-off :O

Some of the collegians at Crosslife organized a cook off challenge today, complete with themes and judges! Even though it was advertised as a contest, the hosts joked that it was more of a "forced potluck" in the sense that we were forced to all cook something. But food and fellowship is never a bad combo.

For the challenge, everyone was broken up into 4 teams by cuisine: Italian, Chinese, Mexican, and American. As part of team 'murica, my group decided to make steak sliders on Hawaiian bread, and sweet potato fries with spicy mayo.

Juicy steak cooked in butta
Sweet potato fries: check out that totally "American" "flag."
Assembling the sliders: bread, steak, carmelized onions, avocado, cole slaw.
Completed! Avec fancy toothpicks.
Amazing fried pork wantons from Team Chinese.
Team Italian ended up winning the night. Sure they had a master chef on their team, and made amazing lasagna. But when they brought out their light and creamy angel food cake tiramisu, everyone knew it was game over.

Fancy cooking quota for the quarter: complete.

"Shall we pay taxes to Caesar? Does not the resurrection violate the sanctity of marriage? What is the greatest commandment? How do we know that the word of Jesus is true? Did God really create the universe? How can you believe that God is good when there is evil in this world? Did God really say, "you shall not eat of any tree in the garden"? For generation questions rose to heaven from the pits of depraved hearts. But not questions seeking truth or questions seeking knowledge or wisdom, but questions concealing hearts predisposed against the glory of God."

-Pastor James Lee

Man, SUCH  a good summary of our recent study through the book of Matthew on Jesus' dialogues with various opponents.

"If you come to God dutifully offering Him the reward of your fellowship instead of thirsting after the reward of His fellowship, then you exalt yourself above God as His benefactor and belittle Him as a needy beneficiary - and that is evil."

-John Piper, Desiring God
